This last week, we got the opportunity to have Jamie Delaine photograph our little family, and we now know WHY all her clients rave and rave about her. I am not usually someone who feels comfortable behind a camera, but Jamie did an amazing job at making me/ us feel SO at ease. Not to mention, she was super, super patient with cranky, napless Jason.
We love, love, love our new family photos and because I will never, ever be able to pick just ONE to share, I decided to share my favourites and blog ’em. How I’m ever going to pick which ones to frame is beyond me.
Before I share them, a FUN, little preamble and context on how we KNOW Jamie! If ya hate my stories, just skip to the bottom, why don’t ya? ALTERNATIVELY, you can also visit Jamie’s blog to see the photos here!
When David and I dated, we joked that we had a long-distance relationship because we lived 45 minutes apart. We would go back and forth between our two cities…David doing most of the driving, if I’m being honest. We saw each other 2-3 times a week, on a good week. Sunday usually being one of those days. Because of this, we found a church that was central to both of us. Back then, we attended one of the “bigger” churches in the lower mainland. When we got engaged and talked about where we would plant our roots, we knew that we wanted to find a church that would eventually be closer to home. We agreed that we would find a smaller church, than the one we were attending, and try and get connected right away, as that was a big struggle for us in attending a big church. Fast-forward 3.5 years later, and God has brought us to a big church once again…and it is ever-growing (to be one of the fastest growing churches in Canada!!)…haha! BUT God is working, and we can’t complain about that. BUT all that to say that once we started attending said church, David and I committed to attending a community group. We went to a church service that encouraged community group sign ups and that evening, David and I went home and clicked on a random “young adults” group, led by two people we didn’t know, and joined. AND here we are, 3.5 years later, still in that same group. We didn’t know it then, but God was placing us in a group that would not only surround us with people who would challenge us and keep us accountable, but ALSO people who would eventually become some of our now, closest friends. Who woulda thunk it?
And dun, dun dun…leading that group were two of the NICEST people you will ever meet – Randy and Jamie! Jamie was out working the first night we all met, but upon entering Randy and Jamie’s place, we were greeted with Randy’s huge, welcoming smile, and a wedding photo of him and his wife. I remember seeing it, elbowing David and saying, “Ooooh, this Jamie.” Jamie had taken Randy’s last name so we didn’t recognize her name upon signing up. Turns out, Jamie and I (and David) actually attended the same high school. We never knew her, but knew her younger brother, who was a year older than David and I. Anyways, we never knew Jamie, but we knew OF her. Not only because we were in the “same-ish” circles, but because if you have looked into ANY wedding venues, vendors, etc. etc., you have SURELY heard of Jamie.
Anyways, in getting to know Jamie and Randy in the last 3 years, we have heard of many stories of things she has photographed, and in following her work through social media, etc., we have seen that anyone who has worked with her, has LOVED her. And like I said, now we know why!
So without further ado, here they are! Enjoy!
